Landed cost allocation: Customs, shipping freight, and handling

Apportion international freight and customs duty into item valuation for true product margin analysis.

1 Min read
Accurately calculate total landed costs for imported goods. 1. Record Purchase Bill: Enter the supplier bill for imported items at their agreed FOB or EXW price. 2. Enter Landed Expense Bills: Record separate bills from freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs authorities. 3. Create Landed Cost Voucher: In Purchases → Landed Costs, link the original goods receipt and select the associated shipping and customs bills. 4. Allocation Method: Choose how to apportion the landed charges across items (By Item Value, By Quantity, By Weight, or By Volume). 5. Stock Valuation Update: The system updates the inventory unit cost and adjusts the Inventory Valuation GL account without changing the vendor payable amount.
